Who We Help

Village Project (Mulanje District)

In partnership with Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance, a 501c3 organization that provides life-saving services in rural Malawian villages, HomeAID for Africa is furnishing money to train, equip, and deploy village women to feed, clothe, and supply medications and supplies to orphans, vulnerable children, and people with AIDS-related and other illnesses.  Uniforms, shoes, school supplies and school fees are provided for orphans and vulnerable children.  Women are trained in and equipped for income generating activities, and all villagers are educated about the prevention and treatment of HIV and encouraged to pursue voluntary counseling and testing.

Nursing scholarships

The dire shortage of trained medical providers in Malawi directly impacts upon the number of folks who can be treated for HIV/AIDS and related illnesses.  HomeAID supports scholarships for qualified young women and men who are poor and/or orphaned and who are often trying to raise their orphaned siblings.  Tuition, supplies, uniforms, and a small living stipend are provided in exchange for the student's agreement to work in Malawi for at least four years after graduation.  Read Annie’s letter of appreciation for her nursing scholarship.

Micro Finance

Also in partnership with Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance, HomeAID for Africa is providing funds for hundreds of women to receive first time business loans.  The women have started and have succeeded in a variety of small businesses - from beer making to rice trading to produce farming - and their profits are being used to house, feed, and educate their children.
